Rodrick Murdock

Board of Trustee Candidate

A Journey of Passion and Purpose

Hello! My name is Rodrick Murdock but call me Murdock—known as "the man with no first name". My life began amid the vibrant streets of Chicago, IL. Growing up in such a dynamic city has shaped my perspective on community and service. A graduate of Kennedy-King College, as a Theatre Major and a member of Theta Alpha Phi National Theatre Honors Fraternity and attended Chicago State University. Also, a Black business owner for more than thirty years. In the year 2000, I became a member of Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, serving the Hearing and Impaired Community, as a Sign Interpreter along with being a part of the Transport Ministry.

A Vision and a Mission

In January 1989-present, I founded the Broken Arrow Horseback Riding Organization, NFP, where I serve as President and CEO. My passion for horseback riding is to create opportunities for others to experience the joy it brings. I have fueled this initiative for over three decades, and Broken Arrow has been honored with a Proclamation from Congressman Shri Thanedar, Ph.D., from the United States House of Representatives from Detroit, MI, and Chicago, the prestigious Community Impact Award for 2024.

My Journey as a Public Servant

I served as a police officer in Phoenix, IL., where I retired in December 2020. My career in law enforcement has equipped me, particularly in understanding and addressing the needs of our community. My years on the force taught me the value of service and the importance of building trust with the people I serve. My vision, mission and dedication to public service is why I am running for village trustee.

Life in Glenwood and Beyond

I reside in Glenwood, IL., specifically in the Estates. This community has welcomed me with open arms, and I cherish the relationships I have built. Now that I am running for Trustee, I am driven by the belief that our community comes first. And I look forward to representing all of Glenwood.
